Scoliosis
Scoliosis is a sideways twisting and bending of the spine, ribs, and pelvis. This affects the muscles and ligaments of the spinal column. In many cases, it is caused by spinal misalignments due to prior stress and injuries. Most cases of this type can be corrected or improved with the use of the non-surgical scoliosis treatment by Advanced Health Center of San Jose, California.
Throughout the centuries, physicians have regarded scoliosis as a spinal disorder, or a lateral curvature of the spine. During the later 21st century, internal bracing was recommended (surgery). Advancements of modern medicine have recognized idiopathic scoliosis as a complex disease. Scoliosis attacks the muscles and ligaments of the spinal column, causing a sideways (lateral) twisting and rotation of the spine, ribs, and pelvis.
Physician's are now understanding that symptom's of scoliosis may vary on an individual basis. Many may experience mood swings, headaches, digestive problems, menstrual-cycle disturbances, leg, hip and knee pain. The old “wait and see" or “no treatment is needed because the degree of the curve is to small" advice leads to painful adult scoliosis. This new knowledge reveals curve progression continues throughout life, but the degree of deformity may accelerate according to hormonal stress, diet, exercise, and genetic make up.
